Project Info
Reasons to Believe is a nonprofit that bridges faith and science through content-rich resources.
The project was to modernize their legacy website while retaining the trust of long-time users. This required a thoughtful redesign rooted in user empathy, strong UX patterns, and content clarity.
Client: Reasons to Believe (RTB)
Role: Lead Product Designer
Duration: 15 Months
Tools Used: Figma, Notes, Google Analytics, Photoshop, Illustrator
Team: Worked cross-functionally with content strategists, engineers, and marketing leads
User Persona
A key user persona guided this project: Phillip, a spiritually devout Christian with questions about science.

Problem Definition
The previous RTB website had strong content but a poor user experience. Specific challenges included:
-
A dated UI that lacked mobile responsiveness and design clarity.
-
Complex navigation that hindered content discovery.
-
Minimal engagement pathways for new or returning visitors.
-
Lack of trust indicators for users seeking scientific credibility and theological alignment.

Goals of the Redesign
1. Modernize the visual identity without alienating RTB’s loyal base.
3. Build trust via author credibility, citations, and clean design.
2. Empower user exploration through a smarter content architecture.
4. Personalize the experience for users at different stages of belief or doubt.
UX Strategy
We restructured the site to highlight key resources—articles, videos, podcasts—with visual hierarchy and clean layout.

Design Process Snapshots
Conclusion
This was a deeply human-centered project. Designing for an audience torn between faith and science required more than functional UX—it required theological empathy and educational clarity. By keeping Phillip at the heart of the process, we built not just a website, but a space where questioning users can feel seen, supported, and equipped.
